The Dark Resurrection Volume 0 soundtrack is the result of 3 years of work (summer 2008 - summer 2011). The process took particularly long to fully develop the concept, and complete the mammoth work of programming and mixing the virtual orchestra. The entire technical and artistic staff pursued the ideal of maintaining the quality standards of major productions, despite the non-profit nature of the project.

I loved working with Angelo, I feel in tune with his artistic taste and his way of directing with a focus on emotions. Moreover, he’s a great music listener, he knows what he can achieve emotionally through the soundtrack, and designs his scenes keeping this aspect in enormous consideration. That’s why he’s extremely demanding and with his infectious enthusiasm pushes me beyond.

I began working on the concept starting from the screenplay. One of the first ideas I developed was Sorran’s main theme (the protagonist), which you can hear halfway through “Dark Resurrection Volume 0 Trailer A”, at the beginning of “Nevar” and hinted at halfway through “Meditations” and halfway through “Escaping The Resurrection”. It’s Sorran’s theme, of his mad quest and unbridled ambition, which is why I characterized it with 3 ascending notes.

Another important theme characterizes Sorran, and is linked to the weight of the role that fate calls him to fulfill, that of the chosen one. The chosen one’s theme represents the sacrifices that Sorran must endure to fulfill his destiny. You can hear it hinted at the beginning of “Meditations”, fully exposed in “The Chosen One”, halfway through “Thor’s Death” and halfway through “Eternal Life & Titles”.

The third and final recurring theme is that of the Resurrection, the enormous organic wreck in which the film is set, and which constitutes the object of Sorran’s obsessive research. From its appearance we realize it’s a threat to the group of Jedi, and for many of them it will prove fatal. I tried to render this subtle threat with a chromatic melody, and creating a parallel with Sorran’s theme: here too 3 notes, this time descending. You can hear it halfway through “Resurrection Spotted”, towards the end of “Towards The Resurrection”, in “Boarding The Resurrection”. This theme represents the basis of the standalone track “Temple Of Life”. At the end of “The Chosen One” when Sorran discovers he’s the chosen one, it crosses with Sorran’s theme: the bond is established.

A special mention goes to the great cellist Mariano Dapor, the only real instrument in this soundtrack, who played the cello solo part of “Ancient Secrets” divinely, adding much to the track’s emotional impact.

A decisive contribution was that of Giovanni Nebbia, sound engineer at Ithil World Recording Studio for the mastering of this album’s tracks. The passion and experience with which he works are indispensable resources.

I believe it’s thanks to Bruno and what he did with his wonderful music that Dark Resurrection is so moving in some parts.

Exciting music.

A special mention also deserves the excellent soundtrack (music by Bruno Di Giorgi), which makes the final product even more fascinating.

Another big step forward compared to the first episode is the soundtrack: it perfectly succeeded in enhancing the key moments of the narrative and doesn’t make you miss the original Star Wars music too much.

Bruno Di Giorgi creates music of the highest level, they accompany you on this claustrophobic and dark journey while maintaining the epic nature and enhancing every emotion told by the characters without ever missing a beat! Absolutely perfect!

I’ve discovered this movie after I read many positive comments on the web. I must say that it has earned all the praise. The visuals are stunning, the plot is fresh and unexpected in a Star Wars context. I loved the gigeresque look of the environment and creatures, and I found the score absolutely amazing.
